Finally, there is a non-invasive method of relieving angina or chest pain without surgery or any invasive procedure. At last a safe procedure has been developed in Europe and brought to the United States about 10 years ago. EECP was used in a study with 2600 people and found to relieve angina in 80% of the patients. This safe alternative and non-invasive procedure increases the blood flow to the entire heart muscle. The heart will beat stronger while decreasing the chest pain a person gets from mild exertion. The increased blood flow will also reverse congestive heart failure. This is the only known effective treatment to completely reverse heart failure. It will last much longer then taking medication to correct the problem. EECP improves blood flow to diseased areas by pumping blood back into the arteries of the heart. The back pressure will open the small arterioles and capillaries to carry more blood to the tissue. The entire heart muscle will improve in function and relieve the angina and chest pain. The increased size of the vessels is called collateral circulation.
The procedure is approved by the FDA and fully covered by medicare.

The EECP procedure is illustrated below.
